Buckeye Gymnastics fields one of the largest and most successful competitive teams in the Midwest, having won more team and individual State titles than any other team in Ohio. Buckeye Gymnastics has sent more gymnasts to the National Championships over the past 27 years than any other team in the Midwest, and has developed over 40 athletes who have earned full college scholarships. But mostly we have fun, train hard, and do our best to land on our feet. In 2009 Buckeye Gymnastics placed for 1st or 2nd as a team at every level of competition from level 4 through level 10 in the state of Ohio. Buckeye is also a midwestern leader in placing athletes on the National TOP Team and sending talented young athletes to National Training Camps held at the National Training Center at the Karoli Ranch near Houston, Texas. National TOP Team Training Camp, October 15, 2008: Four (4) Buckeye gymnasts were named to the 2008 National TOP Team. 2009 Level 9 National Champions: Cover Girl Classic, Des Moines, Iowa, July 24-26 – Buckeye gymnasts Katie C. and Nia D. will compete in this great event. The 2009 Cover Girl Classic will be held at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Des Moines. Featuring some of the USA's top gymnasts, the CoverGirl Classic is the final qualifying event for junior and senior women for the 2009 Visa Championships. The International Division begins at 1 p.m. with the juniors, followed by the seniors at 7 p.m. The Challenge Division, which features some of the country's top young gymnasts, competes on July 24 and 26. Our coaching staff includes a former Olympian (LI Li, China 1992), a World Championships coach, two brevet judges, several scholarship college athletes, two Ohio Coaches of the Year, National Champions, and well over 100 years of combined coaching experience. Participation within our team program is determined through an audition process held in the spring. It is not that we want to eliminate anyone who wants to participate, it is that we want the children who do participate to have the skills, strength, attitude, and supportive parents that will allow them to succeed. |
